Tour of Vermont

August 8th-12th, 2010

We take pride in our affordable luxury bicycle tours.”
Join New England Adventures, LLC for our 15th Anniversary Summer Bike Tour of Vermont.

This year’s tour focuses on Vermont’s picturesque, quaint and historic New England villages, starting in Stowe, then traveling to Montpelier (the state capital), Quechee Village, Woodstock and ending in Killington, the “Heart of the Green Mountains.”

ITINERARY

Day 1 - Sunday, August 8, 2010
We meet at the Grey Bonnet Inn. There we leave our vehicles and then bus to Stowe, Vermont.

On our way to Stowe, we stop at Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Factory for a tour and sample of their famous ice cream. Then we head to the Commodore Inn where we spend our first night.

In Stowe, we have several optional loop rides to choose from while at the Commodore Inn. Or you may visit the countless places of interest and facilities the area has to offer, where you have a destination not to be ignored. Simply put, it’s strikingly beautiful. So spend your day visiting the many shops that line the streets. Or maybe you elect to ride to the Von Trapp Family Lodge (made famous by the movie, The Sound of Music).

For the more energetic cyclist, you can try a local favorite ride, a 20-mile ride up and down Mt. Mansfield, the highest mountain peak in Vermont (4,393 ft.) to Smugglers Notch.

Day 2 - Monday, August 9, 2010
Stowe to Randolph, VT - 60+ miles
After spending the night in Stowe, we cycle to Montpelier, the nation's smallest state capital. There, we view the Vermont State House, the granite capital building and its gold dome.

After a short visit, we head south to Northfield Village, home of Norwich University, the oldest private military academy in the nation. Next it's on to Randolph, VT, and the Three Stallion Inn where day 2 ends.

Day 3 - Tuesday, August 10, 2010
Randolph to Woodstock/Quechee - 40 miles
After spending a night at the Three Stallion Inn, Randolph,VT, we cycle to Bethel, Barnard, and the pristine Silver Lake, passing Billings Farm, and onto picturesque Woodstock, VT, voted by a national magazine, "the prettiest small town in America." Tonight's accommodations will be at the Shire Motel.

Once in Woodstock, you have the option to ride to the Taftsville Covered Bridge, Quechee Village, home of the renowned Simon Pearce Glass Blowing and Pottery Studio, and Quechee Gorge (Vermont's Little Grand Canyon).

Day 4 - Wednesday, August 11, 2010
Woodstock to Killington, VT - 49+ miles
Leaving the village of Woodstock, we continue on our way to Killington, VT, the “Heart of the Green Mountains.” Killington is the home of the largest ski area in the eastern United States. You’ll have the option of biking to the top of Killington Ski Mountain and taking a gondola ride to the highest peaks, experiencing a panoramic view that extends as far as you can see; which includes five states and Canada. Our day ends at the Grey Bonnet Inn where we spend our last night.

Day 5 - Thursday August 12, 2010
On our last day after a goodnight's sleep, we wake and our tour ends after breakfast.
“Farewell and may all your memories be magnificent!”
