Join Tri-State Wheelers for our 13th Annual Summer Classic Roundabout Bike Tour. This year’s tour focuses on Central Vermont, with it's picturesque, quaint and historic New England villages. We start our tour Sunday in the Village of Grafton, which has been restored by the Windham Foundation to its bygone era. There we spend the night at the Grafton Inn; beautifully restored country Inn and the cornerstone of Grafton since 1801. Plus an optional 30 mile ride to Chester, famous Vermont Country Store and the Village of Saxton River the loops ride ends back to Grafton Village. Monday, we start our tour by riding to Chester, VT visiting it's stone village homes dating back to pre-World War I, a rarity in New England; on our way to the Killington Ski Mountain, the largest ski area in the eastern United States. Our day ends at in the shadow of the famous Killington Mountain where we spend the night at the North star Lodge. Tuesday we leave the Killington area and travel to Plymouth, homestead and birthplace of President Calvin Coolidge’s, Echo Lake, Ludlow, Cavendish Pointe, South Woodstock and Woodstock Village voted by national magazine, "The Prettiest Town in America". There are day ends at the four diamond Woodstock Inn. We spend the next two nights. Wednesday, you have the choose of rides: The Pomfret ride, with it's breathtaking scenery; Quechee Village, home of the Simon Pearce glass-blowing studio, a "must visit;" Quechee Gorge, "Vermont’s Little Grand Canyon." On Thursday, the last day of our tour, takes us to Windsor, the birthplace of Vermont. Then we cross the Cornish-Windsor Bridge, America's longest covered bridge (465') into Cornish, New Hampshire, cycling borders between New Hampshire and Vermont. Arriving in Rockingham home of the famous Vermont General Store, next comes the Village of Saxton River, and then come Grafton, Vermont where our tour began. ITINERARY

Day One
Sunday August 10, 2008
Our tour starts in Grafton, VT., reported by USA Weekend as one of "The 10 Most Beautiful Places in America"; and Harper's Hideaway reports the Grafton Inn as: " A nostalgic and fetchingly restored 18th Century inn - The Old Tavern hides in one of New England's most idyllic picture hamlets". Early arrivals could take advantage of an optional 30 mile ride to Chester,the famous Vermont Country Store and the Village of Saxton River.

Day Two
Monday August 11, 2008
Grafton Village to Killington, VT - 44 miles
We visit Chester and then it’s on to Killington, VT., the “Heart of the Green Mountains.” Killington is the home of the largest ski area in the eastern United States. You’ll have the option of climbing to the top of Killington Ski Mountain. There you can take a gondola ride to the highest peaks and experience a panoramic view that extends as far as you can see; which includes five states and Canada. Our day ends in the shadows of the ski slopes at the North Star Lodge.

Day Three Tuesday August 12, 2008
Killington to Woodstock Village - 59 miles

We bike to Bridgewater, cycling past The Long Trail Brewery, and continuing on to Rt. 100A to President Calvin Coolidge’s birthplace. There his father swore him in as the 30th President of the United States. The homestead is restored to it’s bygone era. Then comes Echo Lake, Ludlow, Cavendish Pointe, South Woodstock and Woodstock Village - which is voted by national magazine: "The Prettiest Town in America." There we spend the next two nights in the heart of Woodstock Village, at the four diamond Woodstock Inn.

Day Four
Wednesday August 13, 2008
Optional Rides 20 or 35 miles + loop rides.
We have a number of options, including a leisurely walk through the village of Woodstock, with its tasteful shops, galleries, antique stores and restaurants. Or, maybe we could entice you to take a ride to Pomfret with its breath-taking scenery. We pass the Billings Farm, and the Taftsville Covered Bridge on our way to Quechee village, the home of Simon Pearce glass blowing and pottery studio - a "must visit”. Then we continue on to Quechee Gorge, “Vermont’s Little Grand Canyon”. Finally, our day ends back at the Woodstock Inn for another night of Vermont's hospitality.

Day Five
Thursday August 14, 2008
Woodstock to Grafton - 50 miles
Our last day takes us to Windsor, the birthplace of Vermont, where we cross North America’s longest covered bridge (465’) into Cornish, NH. Then we follow the borders of New Hampshire and Vermont, arrive at Rockingham, Vermont the home of the famous Vermont General Store and the Village of Saxton River on our way back to Grafton, VT. where our tour ends.
